Over Easter we were down in Castle Douglas and it was a lovely bright day. We often go to Threave Gardens for the cafe so this day we decided to head into the gardens with a view to becoming National Trust members again.
My parents have been raving about the gardens but I must admit I was expecting just a little wander them home but we spent ages there and I regret not being better prepared with a picnic and more time.
There’s a large play area for the kids with loads of space around it so they can play happily without getting into any trouble. There are loads of different areas to the gardens too so you’ll definitely find something that interests you.
Wee Stinker was obsessed with fishing around then so she spent a long time holding a stick over a fountain and ‘fishing’. One of the ponds was absolutely heaving with frogs and the flowers were just starting to come out so it was beautiful and so relaxing. I really wish we’d had more time to spend there.
